Awning Detail Drawings
When compared to schedule 40 pipe, a Gatorshield® tube of equal or smaller outside diameter can have a much lighter wall thickness but still achieve greater load-carrying capacity in tension. Each drawing incorporates a table that cross-references the nominal schedule 40 pipe size to the corresponding Gatorshield size. Explicit comparisons are made to determine what specific sizes of Gatorshield tubing can be easily substituted in each design.
You are advised to thoroughly read the Engineering Design Assumptions (techinfo.pdf) to fully comprehend the requirements, specifications, limitations and restrictions prior to application. The specifications, descriptions, information and illustrations contained herein is not intended nor should it be relied upon to provide anyone with all of the relevant information required. Reference should be made to original or primary source data along with standard accepted industry practice.
These drawings provide fully detailed, ready-to-use, engineered awning and canopy designs. The awning styles chosen are among the most popular in use. Three major areas are covered, which include varying truss shapes that can be incorporated in the framework, the completed awning or canopy member structure and anchoring methods and detail.
